It's Instagram's Valencia-filtered world and we just live in it—so why not play the game? Curating a great Instagram gallery requires thought and serious attention to detail, and there's nothing wrong with receving a little assitance from some great photography and video apps. From better (read: more realistic) filters to apps for retouching that small blemish, these 5 apps will help increase the quality of your photos on Instagram.

.) VSCO Cam is loved by many photographers—it's the crème de la crème when it comes to photo manipulation, whether you need to brighten, sharpen or increase contrast. Feeling bored with X-Pro II and Nashville filters on Instagram? VSCO Cam offers more realistic photo treatments, and you can control the exact amount of filter to add to your picture.

.) Squaready is the easiest app to frame your photos when you want to actually include your entire outfit in a photo, and the square just won't do. Or if you'd like to take a more artsy approach and keep all your photos landscape, this is the app for you. Note: Filter your photo prior to using squaready, that way when you export to Instagram, you'll still have a nice white border.

.) Pic Stich is a necessity when you want to include multiple photos in one instagram. Stich them together, side by side, horizontal—just don't add to many in one shot—the point of Instagram is that we actually want to be able to see your photo(s).

.) Photo Wonder is a Japanese app that will fulfill all your retouching desires when you need to hide under-eye circles and blemishes or want to thin your face a little. There's also an option to increase your cleavage! Just be careful with the airbrushing tool that you don't end up looking too perfect.

.) Videoshop is for the budding film director in all of us. This app is quite simple to use to edit videos that you've shot on your iPhone—trim your video clip, reverse it, add text, music, and upload to Instagram.
