Original Post, 10/13: Adele is currently in the process of signing an $128 million record deal with Sony for her next studio album, according to reports.

If the deal goes through it would be one of the biggest in history and would see the singer set up with her own record label. The news comes as Adele's current record label XL Recordings confirmed it will not be releasing her third album this year.

The British musician has taken a break from the spotlight since the birth of her son Angelo in October 2012, with her return one of the most highly anticipated in recent years.

Her first album 19 saw the songstress pick up four Grammy Award nominations and two wins, while her follow-up, 21, debuted at number one worldwide and won a Grammy and a Brit award. Most recently her song for the James Bond film Skyfall won a Golden Globe and Academy Award for best film soundtrack.
