Update, 6/2: After Caitlyn Jenner unveiled her new name and look on the cover of Vanity Fair yesterday many were left wondering how she selected the new name 'Caitlyn'. Jenner opened up to Vanity Fair today, "It's one of the hardest things in life—choosing your own name," she said explaining the process. Jenner revealed her source of name inspiration came from watching Miss America pageants—over two years ago when she started thinking of a new name. From the pageants, she picked three names she liked the best: Heather, Cathy and Caitlyn.. The deciding factor? Her assistant at one point suggested Caitlyn and that coincidence made the decision for Jenner in itself.

As for why chose to spell Caitlyn with a 'C' as opposed to the Kardashian's signature 'K'? She concluded that it was best to break tradition and the media associations that went with it.
